Computer Refurbishing & Training

Objectives
  • Provide 150 youth with stipended work experience and computer repair training.
  • Build technology infrastructure in Vernon-Central schools with computers refurbished by trainees.
  • Students trained to provide technical assistance at schools.
  • 2 week training program, 3 hours/day.
Outcomes
  • 15 youth refurbished 210 computers that were removed from the School District’s “graveyard”; 110 were put into Carver Middle School classrooms, in the first month.
  • Program ensures that all Vernon-Central K-16 schools can have state-of-the-art technology infrastructure, technical assistance and maintenance, provided by students themselves.
