Community College Satellite Center

Objective
  • Provide LATTC credit and non-credit bilingual classes at the CDTechLink Center, in the heart of Vernon-Central.
  • College classes for non-traditional, largely Spanish-speaking students.
  • Provide advanced educational opportunities for students who do not often leave the neighborhood environs.
Outcomes
  • College enrollment.
  • College credit earned, or progression along the basic skills and vocational education continuum.
  • Over 600 students have taken college classes (spring 2006 – 2009.)

State of California ADA.

Enrollment

Open, adult and student enrollment.

Participant commitment
  • Noncredit classes, usually 9-12 weeks, 1 hour/ week.
  • Credit classes vary, 1 unit of college credit = 18 hours instruction.
Fees
  • Noncredit classes are free.
  • Credit classes @ $20/unit for residents ($181/unit for non-residents.)
  • Free for concurrently enrolled middle and high school students.
